Automation for newsletter subscriptions with forms (beta)

You have created a new form (beta) for your newsletter subscription and would like to send an automated welcome email as a result
In this article, we will show you how to successfully start such an automation with the help of tags:

Assignment of a first filler tag

  1. Create a new registration form (beta) or edit an existing form. You can find all the information you need in the article create and edit registration forms (beta).
There you will also find the advanced settings, which we need to activate the tag assignment.

  2. In the field First filler tag, enter, for example, the tag newregistration. This will send a tag (comparable to a label) to the recipient. This allows it to be uniquely assigned for segments or automations.

Creation of the welcome automation

  1. In the menu on the left, click Automation THEA. Click on the right on the button Add workflow > Blank template. Give the automation chain a name and click on Add.

  2. Drag the orange TAG - Event element into the workspace. Click on the element and then on the pencil to edit. Give the function a name, e.g. New registration, and select that the tag New registration must be present (you defined this tag in the advanced settings when you created the registration form). Click on Save.

  3. Drag the blue if/then function element onto the workspace and connect the two elements. Assign a name and select Tags - contains - received (see screenshot) and click on Save.

  4. Drag the green send email element onto the workspace and select your welcome email or create a new mailing a new mailing and click Save.
Connect the bottom corner of the If/Then function (False) to the send email element. This means that the mailing will only be sent to new subscribers, as recipients who have already received the mailing will have the TAG received attached.
→ It is ensured that each recipient receives the welcome email only once.

  5. Drag the Edit data element onto the workspace. Enter the TAG received and click on Save.

  6. Your welcome automation is now complete. After the new registration checks whether the recipient has the TAG received in the account data. If this is not the case, the automation is continued for this recipient and the recipient receives the mailing and a TAG received to ensure that this automation is only executed once.
Set the slider at the top right from inactive to active so that your welcome automation starts.
