In CleverReach, you can use tags to organize and segment your recipients. This can be helpful to create targeted newsletter campaigns or define recipient groups for different automation workflows.
However, it may happen that you no longer need tags or that you want to update them. In this case, you can delete tags from recipients.
Note: The maximum character length for tags is 50 characters.
Two ways to delete tags:
With the help of a THEA automation chain
With an automation chain, you have the option of selecting tags from a delete the entire recipient list. To do this, follow these steps:
- Log in to your account and click on the menu on the left on Automation THEA. Open a new or existing automation chain.

Set up the chain as follows:
- Calendar element and list of days as start symbol (e.g. today xx-xx-2024 at 12:00)
- Load recipient group element: Select your recipient list here.

Change data element: Select the TAG that you want to should be deleted
Your automation chain looks like this:
- Assign the tag to the Change data element (here: example-tag (highlighted in blue)).
Important: Only if you insert a minus (-) in front of the tag, the tag will be removed by the recipient.
- Click on the button Save.
- Save your automation chain too. As set, it will attach the tags to your selected recipient list on the desired day at the desired time.
Manually in the recipient profile
- Open one of your recipient lists and click on the recipient for which you want to remove a tag.

Click on Edit below the profile data.

The tag field is now available for editing. Click on the x behind the tag you wish to delete. The change is saved automatically without you having to click Save.
