Transfer Contacts from Mailchimp to CleverReach

With the Mailchimp Importer, you can quickly and easily transfer your contacts, data fields, and tags from Mailchimp to CleverReach. Your original data in Mailchimp remains completely intact.

This guide explains how to complete the import in just a few steps:

Preparation

Open the Mailchimp Importer in CleverReach. The process varies slightly depending on whether you have a new account or are an existing customer :

As a new customer:
If, during the onboarding process , you selected that you are switching from another provider to CleverReach and chose Mailchimp, the following modal will appear on your account overview page in your account.
Click here on Import data from Mailchimp.

As an existing customer:
Under My Account > Integrations > Mailchimp, you can still trigger an import at a later time:
Connect to Mailchimp

Within the Mailchimp Importer, click Connect Mailchimp. A pop-up window will open, where you can enter your Mailchimp account credentials and log in.
Select Import Mode

You can choose between two modes:

Simple Mode (preselected): For a quick import using default settings.
Advanced Mode: For full control over the destination list and field mapping.
Select Recipient List

Select the Mailchimp list you want to import from the dropdown menu. The total number of recipients included will be displayed immediately. Finally, check the box and click Start Import.
- Note: If you have selected Simple Mode , you will be taken directly to the Start Import step
  1. Specify target list (advanced mode only)
    Select an existing CleverReach recipient list into which the data should be imported, or create a new list directly with a name of your choice.
  2. Map data fields and tags (advanced mode only)
    
    Email address: Always filled in automatically.
    Additional fields: Map your Mailchimp fields to the corresponding CleverReach fields, create new fields, or select “Do not import”.
    Tags: Use the toggle to decide whether your Mailchimp tags should also be imported.
Confirm Consent & Start Import

Check the consent checkbox (recipient consent, Terms of Service, and anti-spam rules) and click Start Import.
Track Import Progress

A progress bar shows you the current status. Even while the data is being transferred, you can switch to your recipient list or create a mailing.
Import Complete

Once the import is complete, you will see an overview showing the number of contacts that were successfully imported. You will also receive a confirmation via email.
